Get creative, gather the family, and decorate a wagon for the 79th Annual St. Mary’s County Fair Decorated Wagon Contest! Sponsored by Forrest Hall Farm and Orchard, this fun family event brings a little creativity and plenty of fall spirit to the fair.

The Decorated Wagon Contest will take place on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Arts & Crafts Building at the St. Mary’s County Fair.

Whether you love fall, enjoy crafting, or simply want to create a fun family memory, this is a great opportunity to show off your creativity!

Decorate a Wagon and Join the Fun

Participants are invited to decorate a child’s wagon in any style or theme they choose. While agricultural and local history themes are suggested, they are not required. Let your imagination take over!

Wagons can be decorated using any method and any medium. A family can participate together, and Mom, Dad, children, cousins, and grandparents are all welcome.

Costumes are optional but encouraged, adding even more fun and personality to your wagon presentation.

Important Contest Rules

  • The wagon should be a child’s wagon, such as a Radio Flyer or Little Tikes wagon.
  • No motorized or animal-powered wagons are permitted.
  • The wagon must be people-powered.
  • A family member may ride in the wagon or pull it during the contest presentation.
  • Wagons may be decorated using any method and any medium.
  • Agricultural and local history themes are suggested, but not required.
  • Families may include parents, children, cousins, grandparents, and other family members.
  • Costumes are optional but encouraged.

It’s a great way to combine creativity, family fun, and a little friendly competition at the St. Mary’s County Fair!

See the Wagons Throughout the Fair

The fun doesn’t end after the contest. Decorated wagon entries will remain on display in the Arts & Crafts Building until the fair closes on Sunday.

That means fair visitors will have an opportunity to see the creative wagon designs throughout the weekend.
